Hi everybody, I want to address Proposition 8 in the California ballot in this election, which if passed, amends the California Constitution to eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry. This proposition, sponsored by the Protect Marriage Group, was founded on the basis of hate, ignorance and prejudice. This proposition goes beyond being just a gay issue. This is a civil rights issue. It is about one group of people who hold a certain set of beliefs, whether religious based or not, creating laws to discriminate another group of people.

At the end of the day, whether or not a gay couple marries has no direct impact on anyone else other than the couple. The marriage of your gay neighbors is not going to affect your life in any way. However, it will make a world of difference to your neighbors. They and, if they have children, their children will finally be guaranteed the same rights that are already bestowed upon every other married couple.

Please vote “NO” on discrimination by voting “NO” on Proposition 8. As a Californian, I take great pride knowing that I live in such a diverse state that has always been forward thinking on the equal rights front. In voting “NO” to Proposition 8, you will be helping to continue that honorable tradition.

In addition to getting out the vote, there are other ways to get the word out about the discriminatory nature of this proposition: 1) Tell all your family & friends to get out there and vote - NO on Discrimination = NO on Prop 8!! 2) Volunteer if you have the time. Click on this link: 3) Donate to the "No on Prop 8" campaign. Right now, the proponents of the hateful proposition, with all the money pouring in from the religious right from other states are more well funded than us. They've been bombarding Californian television channels with ludicrous ads that have no ounce of truth or merit utilizing scare tactics. We need to put more "NO on Prop 8" ads to counter these.

No On Prop 8, Equality For All is the coalition that is leading the fight to defeat Prop 8 and defend the fundamental right to marry for all Californians. Help me help them. Contribute to my fundraising page today!
