California's Lieutenant Governor is a voting member of the California State University Board of Trustees and the University of California Regents. Even if Newsom were not a strong leader on the environmental front, having the seats on the two California University boards is reason enough for us to support Newsom with our money and our votes. He has pledged to vote against the continual tuition increases and work toward lowering the cost of higher education.
The last time I saw Gavin, he was scheduled to speak during a lunch of CA Democratic Party leaders. Various event organizers keep trying to get him to the lectern to make a speech, and he kept doing what he was doing; moving from table to table and talking with people one-on-one. I know he is an active, engaged mayor of a major American city and working hard to win this election, but he appeared to have all the time in the world to speak with guests at the lunch, taking time to answer our questions and respond to our concerns.
