Please join Owen Perkins for an evening at the theater for the World Premiere of Just Like Us, the adaptation of Helen Thorpe's award-winning book. This true story of four Mexican girls coming of age in Denver won the Colorado Book Award and was noted by the Washington Post as "one of the best books of 2009." The book offered a unique perspective on contemporary immigration issues, and the Denver Center's adaptation is certain to be one of the theatreical highlights of the year and an important voice in the ongoing discussion of immigration reform.
Friday's preview performance also features a special appearance by Helen Thorpe as she discusses the production with the creative team in a "Perspective" session before the play. The "Perspective" session begins at 6 p.m. in the Jones Theater. Note: We chose this performance date because of the Perspective session and invited Helen Thorpe to participate through the DCTC; the session is not exclusive to our group.
When: Friday, October 4th at 7:30 p.m.
Where: The Stage Theater Denver Center Theater Company, Denver Center for the Performing Arts Speer and Arapahoe
