Dear Friends and Family,
On Tuesday, October 8th, we went to SF City Hall to get married - again - in the same place we were married in 2004. We were overjoyed when in June 2008 the CA Supreme court deemed it unconstitutional to discriminate against the marriage of same-sex couples. But thanks for right wing fundamentalists, our right to marry is in danger - again.
Proposition 8 proposes to actually change the language of the California constitution to outright ban marriage for gay and lesbian couples. In our view, the constitution should be designed to promote freedoms for its citizens, not to discriminate. We urge you to support the campaign to vote No on Prop 8.
Right wing fundamentalists are spending $10 million dollars MORE than the No on 8 campaign, with misleading ads designed to strike fear and promote ignorance about this important issue. If you can, we urge you to support the No on Prop 8 campaign through donations and volunteer phone calls. We must get Californians to vote "No," and it is up to all of us to fight and protect each other's freedoms as allies.
Thank you for visiting our web page and join us in supporting the No on 8 campaign. And Californians, remember to vote NO on Prop 8.
with love and appreciation,
Kayla Kirsch and Tamar Posner
P.S. While don't need a piece of legal paper to validate our sixteen year relationship, there are many protections and rights that married people are granted and we need these too. We urge you to please support and protect us from discrimination.
