In order to overcome the big, well-funded corporate lobbyists and get America working for ordinary Americans again, we need Senators working alongside me who will put America's families first.

I’ve chosen six progressive candidates in tough races who aren’t afraid to stand up to the big Wall Street banks and the corporate machine. I hope you'll support them.

Russ Feingold

Russ Feingold has always stood by his values no matter what the polls say. He's facing a tough race in Wisconsin against multi-millionaire businessman Ron Johnson, a global warming science-denier. A staunch opponent of the Iraq War and of free trade agreements like NAFTA, Feingold has consistently been a strong, independent voice for the American people.

Jack Conway Debt Retirement

Jack Conway, Kentucky’s Attorney General, is running a strong race for the Senate against tea party darling Rand Paul. Conway strongly supports breaking up the big banks and repealing Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, and believes that employees, not employers, should be the ones to decide how to form a union.

Conway is facing a tough battle against Republican Rand Paul who questions the constitutionality of both the Civil Rights Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Patty Murray

A former preschool teacher and school board president, Patty Murray has been a consistent champion for Washington State and progressive causes, from opposing the War in Iraq to ensuring that veterans have access to quality medical care.

Her opponent, Republican Dino Rossi, supports borrowing $800 billion from China to repeat the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy and believes we should repeal the Wall Street reform bill. The last thing we need in Congress is someone who puts the big banks and special interests above the best interest of working families.

Barbara Boxer

Barabara Boxer has consistently been a Senator progressives can depend on. A strong voice in the fight against climate change, she’s never backed down to the big oil interests.

Her opponent, Republican Carly Fiorina, former CEO of Hewlett Packard, refuses to admit that climate change exists and took a $45 million golden parachute after giving 20,000 working Americans pink slips.

Paul Hodes

Representative Paul Hodes is a true blue progressive running for the Senate in New Hampshire. Hodes is a strong supporter of a woman’s right to choose and marriage equality.

His opponent, Republican Kelly Ayotte was endorsed by Sarah Palin, is against a woman’s right to choose, and promised to vote against any attempt to repeal the anti-equality Defensive Marriage Act.

Chris Coons

The county executive of Delaware's Newcastle County, Chris Coons is running for the Senate against the newest tea party celebrity, Christine O’Donnell. Coons will work to close the revolving door between members of Congress and lobbyists and is determined to end our dangerous addiction to foreign oil.

Republican Christine O’Donnell, is so extreme that her former campaign manager called her "a complete fraud."

Opportunity and Renewal PAC

Jeff Merkley: "We must have strong, progressive voices in the Senate who are willing to stand up and take on the special interest lobbyists and the right wing. I've started the Opportunity and Renewal PAC to help expand our progressive ranks in the Senate - not just for the fight on health care and Wall Street accountability, but for all of the important work we have to deliver on America's promise of opportunity and a fair shake to all of its people."
