Last May, the Supreme Court of Californa overturned Propsition 22, stating that under the constitution of the State of California, same sex couples have the same rights to marriage as heterosexual couples. Proposition 8 is an attempt by the ultra-conservatives to write discrimination against same sex couples into the constitution. Proponents insist that the Court inappropraitely ignored the will of the people. The part they are missiing is that the Supreme Court was developed to protect the minority from the will of the majority. In 1948 in California. the Court ruled that it was unconsitutional to not allow couples of different races to marry. Most of the population was still against the change. But the court did what was right, just as it did last spring.

Proponents of Porpisuition 8 are mean spirited and dishonest. Their ads state that if Proposition 8 fails, teachers will be required to teach about same sex marraige and churches may lose their tax exemopt status. These are blatant lies. The only change that was made is that same sex couples can marry. Civilly. No church or religion will be forced to participate in any way, shape or form.

Do not belivwe their claims that tihs is ot an attck on gay people. It is indeed, and it is an atatck on all of our freedopms., gay or straight. The Constitution of Calfornia has never before been used to take away rights, only to support rights. The precedent that the passing of Proposition 8 would set is frightening and dangerous. Regardless of how you feel about same sex marriage, you need to vote "NO" on Proposition 8.

Please donate as much as you can to help us get the word out. We need money to put more No On 8 commercials on TV and radio to counter theirs. They have alot of money in this fight. Please. Your rights could be on the chopping block next. Email me at if you want to talk about tihs further.
