Senator Al Franken (DFL-MN) recently authored an amendment to stop the disgusting practice of government contractors (such as KBR/Halliburton) from forcing employees into signing arbitration clauses that require them to waive their civil and judicial rights even in cases where they're victims of criminal violations including rape, assault and kidnapping.
Here, he explains the inspiration for his amendment--the revolting case of Jamie Lee Jones, who was gang-raped by KBR employees, locked in a shipping container for days by her superiors, and then prevented from seeking redress in a court of law due to the arbitration clause she had signed:
