State Slate: Round 4

The State Slate is an effort by the tech community to help excellent Democratic candidates in winnable state races nationwide.

Our first, second, and third rounds of fundraising have raised nearly two million dollars for 41 key state races.

In this final round, we'll be helping 14 more campaigns, once again in the states of Iowa, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Minnesota.

What's at stake in these elections? In all four states, we are on the cusp of winning a majority in at least one state house.

Florida has refused Medicaid expansion, while Iowa has privatized Medicaid, with disastrous results, creating needless suffering for hundreds of thousands of uninsured Americans.

Florida and Pennsylvania have a history of gerrymandering and are expected to gain seats after the 2020 census. Districts redrawn by a Republican-dominated legislature will affect the entire country for at least a decade.

Finally, all four states are Presidential swing states, with Florida and Minnesota likely being must-win states for Trump. Meanwhile, Iowa has a highly competitive Senate race that could determine control of the U.S. Senate.

The Federal races in these states are now saturated with funding, but that's not the case at the state level. In fact, Democrats in all four states are running at a serious fundraising disadvantage.

At the same time, these state races can target and turn out votes that the Federal campaigns can't reach.

Every dollar you give means more time the candidate can spend getting out the vote in a year when most voters will be voting by mail. These are winnable state races, and winnable national races, so let's press our advantage in the polls and make sure they have adequate funding!
