ActBlue announced today it is now offering Venmo™ as a payment method. Small-dollar donors can use Venmo to give one-time donations to their favorite candidates and organizations via ActBlue contribution forms, making it easier than ever to give on the go! This strategic expansion comes at a key moment for the left, as Democrats, progressive organizers, and advocacy organizations are building powerful grassroots bases to take on Republicans in the midterms and counter conservative attacks on our democracy and human rights.
In Q3 2021, 54.8% of contributions on ActBlue were made via a mobile device, and 70.2% of contributions were made with a saved payment method or digital wallet option (ActBlue Express accounts, Google Pay™, Apple Pay®, or PayPal™). With the addition of Venmo, more donors than ever before are now able to take action and chip in at a moment’s notice to campaigns and nonprofits, whether they’re on the go or on their couch. This lineup of payment methods helps remove one of the biggest points of friction in the online donation process: typing out your credit card information on a mobile device.
As with ActBlue’s existing payment options, fundraisers on ActBlue will not have to pay more, set up an integration, or request to use Venmo — it will automatically appear for all campaigns and organizations that are eligible, helping to lower the barrier to civic participation and advocacy for millions.
Lauren Tucker, Product Manager, shared the following statement celebrating this feature release:
“Our product team is passionate about building tools to meet the moment. We are always striving to make it as easy and secure as possible for donors to give, no matter where they are or what device they are using. With Venmo added to our contribution forms, donors have unparalleled choices for how they want to give. This is another strategic advantage for the small-dollar donor movement on the left, and one that will help people fuel change across the country.”
