Strategically Blue: 16 toss up races to win the House in 2022

embed errored

In the face of the recent attacks on our democracy (January 6) and liberty (loss of Roe vs. Wade), we only have weeks to come together and win the controlling majority in the House of Representatives.

How do we win the House majority? Strategically support the least decided races, the toss-ups, the ones where every vote counts. How can you make the most difference? Focus on the campaigns that are underfunded, where every dollar counts.

Which races are those? I didn't know, so l looked up the FEC fundraising filings on opensecrets.com. Then I looked up competitiveness ratings from five non-partisan

sources: FiveThirtyEight.com, The UVA Center for Politics, The Cook Political Report, Inside Elections, and Real Clear Politics.

There are 16 super-competitive races that are sorely underfunded.

For example, as of the most recent FCC filing, Josh Riley (NY-19) had only $498,262 in cash on hand. That's roughly $1.00 per registered voter. According to FiveThirtyEight.com, his district is one of the most competitive in the country: he literally has a 50% chance of winning.

Here are the most strategic campaigns I've found:

  • Josh Riley (NY-19)
  • Francis Conole (NY-22)
  • Christy Smith (CA-27)
  • Jamie McLeod-Skinner (OR-5)
  • Rudy Salas (CA-22)
  • Gabe Vasquez (NM-2)
  • Michelle Vallejo (TX-15)
  • Wiley Nickel (NC-13)
  • Eric Sorensen (IL-17)
  • Yadira Caraveo (CO-8)
  • Hillary Scholten (MI-3)
  • Chris Deluzio (PA-17)
  • Adam Gray (CA-13)
  • Greg Landsman (OH-1)
  • Emilia Sykes (OH-13)
  • Frank Mrvan (IN-1)

I'm asking you to act now and give whatever you can to support these campaigns.

You can find the numbers for all these races and others at strategicallyblue.com.

I've made similar ActBlue fundraisers for the Senate (strategically-blue-senate) and governors (strategically-blue-governors) races.
